Everyone is encouraged to daily have time with God....be it five minutes or two hours... a "spot" that is just for them to be with God.
Mark 1:9-39 speaks of Jesus withdrawing into solitude and silence - times when He met in private with God the Father and prayed. We have our Bibles and many many options of devotions written by people who have poured over the Scriptures and can enlighten us.
In touch Magazine is a great devotional that many of our ladies use. This month there is an article "Destination Inner Sanctum" which is a study on taking time to be in with God. Our busyness can make it a challenge. This quote from the article hopefully will be an encouragement:
"If you can do this on a beach in Maui, great! If you can take a day off to relax in your hammock, good for you! But if all you can do is lock yourself in the bathroom for 10 minutes or drag yourself out of bed half an hour early, that'll work, too."
Personally, I was extra-special blessed ( my grandmother used to say that all the time) this summer with a time away visiting my college roommate. The picture above was where I was able to spend my early morning (as long as I wanted) reading God's love letter to me. It was early May, after our long cold winter.....for seven days that 'spot' looked just like that - SUNNY and quiet.....yes, I was extra-special blessed!
We encourage our girlfriends to have "Devotion Discussions" during the summer. This is a laid back hour of coffee and friendship discussing their most impactful moment with God during the week. These have proven to be powerful times. Three to four women meeting at local coffee shops or in homes sharing their hearts......We can just see the SONSHINE of these summer moments!
Therefore, enjoy looking for the spot that is just yours. Time to be with God, just you filling your heart with His love.
